Brisbane Airport

Da Vinci - Introduction

The Da Vinci Precinct is further proof that Queensland is becoming an Asia-Pacific aviation hub.

Background

In conjunction with Brisbane Airport Corporation, creating this aviation hub was a major part of the Queensland Government’s Smart State strategy from 1998. In that time many new companies and initiatives were attracted to Queensland, creating approximately 5,000 new aviation jobs.

The Queensland Government needed to ensure that young Queenslanders could be trained to fill these new jobs and created Aviation Australia as a training centre at Brisbane Airport in 2001.

Da Vinci

The Da Vinci precinct remains dedicated to logistics and aviation education uses.

Aviation Australia and Virgin Blue/Boeing have succeeded beyond expectation, and now form a centrepiece of the unique Da Vinci Precinct at Brisbane Airport, the first airport-based education and training precinct of its kind in Australia, and one of very few in the world.

By utilising the full resources of multi-disciplined universities, TAFEs, private training bodies, airlines and other organisations, BAC is facilitating solutions to real world challenges faced by an international airport by tapping into the talent, capacity and innovation of Queensland’s researchers, academics and students.

From military helicopter manufacturers to flight trainers, from cargo forwarders to avionics specialists, Brisbane Airport is home to the full spectrum of companies who enjoy the strategic benefits of belonging to a cluster of activity that generates opportunity and growth.

The Da Vinci Precinct creates high-tech, high-value jobs which are vital to the growth of our nation.
