Forest of light
Brisbane Airport Light Garden will add a glow to South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt
for Brisbane Festival, starting 6 September. Architecture and design collective Cave
Urban is creating the fairytale forest in conjunction with festival creative director Tony
Assness and it will fill the space between the Wheel of Brisbane and the trees at the
Hundreds of twinkling bamboo firefly lanterns will guide festivalgoers through
the 150-metre long colonnade leading to a beautiful central sculpture made of
approximately 1500 bamboo poles stretching 12 metres into the sky. An ambient
soundscape will augment the natural creaks and ‘thunks’ of the bamboo, while a few
interactive surprises will add to the organic music of the forest. On until 27 September.
