BNE May/June 2015 |

Welcome to your

free BNE Magazine,

brought to you by

Brisbane Airport

ou don’t have to be a Baby Boomer

to appreciate vinyl records or a

1960s street machine. Kat Creasey’s

first car was a 1966 Ford Fairmont –

she’s never owned a late model car and

she’s 24. The interest in classic cars is

growing so quickly there are now shows

happening somewhere around Australia

every weekend. You only need to see the

picture from last year’s Cooly Rocks On

(see page 13) – Australia’s largest nostalgia

festival celebrating the 1950s and ’60s – to

see just how popular the past really is…

And it’s more than just a fad for a growing

number of people, like Kat Creasey and

her partner Matt Whalley, who have made

it a lifestyle choice.

Helping young people make choices

that will build positive relationships,

encourage them to be active within their

communities and strive to be the leaders

of tomorrow is the goal of not-for-profit

organisation yLead and their story is as

inspiring as the mentors who aid them in

their cause (see page 8).

Find plenty more to read about people,

places and events that are far from

ordinary in this issue. Please read on…
