Dreamliner

goes direct

Etihad Airways’ new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner arrived to a

water cannon salute at Brisbane Airport in June, one of the

first five destinations in the world to welcome the new aircraft.

Its arrival marked the beginning of daily non-stop flights

between Brisbane and Abu Dhabi, a new direct route that

cuts travel time between the two cities by almost four hours

and offers a new level of passenger comfort. Abu Dhabi is a

sister city to Brisbane and Lord Mayor Graham Quirk says the

commercial relationship between the two cities has generated

more than $450 million in economic benefits for Brisbane

companies since 2009.

SURF

for a cause

Seven-time world surfing champion Layne Beachley will

share her tips for catching the perfect wave with entrants in

the 2015 Brisbane Airport and Wyndham Resorts Corporate

Surf Challenge at Duranbah Beach on the Gold Coast

on 25 September. Teams are invited to enter to support a

good cause as funds raised will be donated to the FSHD

Global Research Foundation which is dedicated to finding

a treatment or cure for one of the most common forms of

muscular dystrophy. The competition raised $30,000 for

the foundation last year. Team packages start from $2000

(team of four) and include catered breakfast, lunch and bus

transport. A custom surfboard and tickets to Hawaii are also

up for grabs in the competition. For information and to
