Brisbane Airport welcomes V Australia Phuket service

20/11/2009

Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Limited (BAC) has congratulated V Australia on its inaugural service to Phuket today.

Thailand is the second destination for V Australia from Brisbane, departing every Friday and Sunday and will link with Virgin Blue’s extensive domestic network.

BAC CEO and Managing Director Julieanne Alroe congratulated V Australia on the new route.

“Brisbane Airport always welcomes new services that open Queensland to the world, providing greater choice and opportunities for our passengers,” Ms Alroe said.

“Phuket is an extremely popular destination with Australian travellers and this non-stop service will make it easier for passengers to reach their destination, while also encouraging overseas travellers to visit Queensland.”

Travelling to Phuket, passengers will experience the brand new world class $340 million Brisbane International Terminal, before boarding a new Boeing 777-300ER, with boutique Business Class, the widest economy class seats on the route and free world class interactive entertainment.

V Australia launched in December last year, with flights direct from Brisbane to Los Angeles. V Australia is the fourth airline in the Virgin Group servicing Brisbane, along with Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue.

Ms Alroe said this new service is a clear vote of confidence in Brisbane Airport’s growing catchment area for outbound travel.

“With a record 19 million passengers through Brisbane Airport over the past financial year, this new service recognises the strength of Queensland’s tourism industry, as well as Queenslanders’ personal appetites for overseas travel,” Ms Alroe said.

“Brisbane Airport congratulates V Australia on its new service and we look forward to further growing our strong relationship with V Australia and Virgin in the future.“
