Car park charges waived for stranded passengers

Brisbane Airport Corporation will refund any additional car parking charges incurred by passengers whose return travel was delayed by the shut down of aviation services in Europe this week.

 

BAC spokesperson Jim Carden said the events of the past week had hit all parts of the aviation industry hard, including airports, where the volume of passengers had declined significantly. He said Brisbane’s sister airport, Schiphol in Amsterdam was making a similar gesture, which it was hoped would go some way to stem the financial cost to travellers of the biggest shutdown of global travel for decades.

 

“We recognise that an act of nature such as this has caused enormous inconvenience and cost to tourists and leisure and business travellers alike. It is something completely out of the hands of the passenger and while we believe it is not a huge number of passengers affected at Brisbane Airport, we think it is only fair to spare them this one additional cost," Mr Carden said.

 

Signs in the terminal car parks will alert returning passengers to call 1300 732 240 for the opportunity to present their receipt and an indication of how the week's events have delayed their return.
