Expressions Dance Company (EDC) is one of Australia’s premier contemporary dance companies. Based in Queensland, EDC has created more than 170 works in its 32-year history. It offers an annual program of world-class productions, education activities and tours regularly within Australia and internationally.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Natalie Weir, EDC works with renowned choreographers and artists and also engages emerging local choreographers, designers and musicians. EDC has received multiple national arts awards for Natalie Weir signature works.Discover more HERE
The Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) is Brisbane’s leading community orchestra.
It brings together up to 200 musicians a year to play a variety of classical orchestral music in venues across Brisbane and the South-East corner, to over 2,500 people.
The orchestra regularly collaborates with a range of local and international artists to deliver diverse programs to the community.
Some concerts feature the great classical, romantic, and 20th century composers, and other concerts feature film music or are tailored towards children.
The BPO is proud of its status of being a completely self-administrated volunteer-run organisation comprising mostly of amateur musicians. Its partnerships with other organisations, such as the BAC, help the orchestra to shape and enhance the cultural landscape of Brisbane.
BWF enriches and connects Queensland communities through stories and ideas. Our vision is for curious and creative communities powered by words. We are a year-round organisation producing programs celebrating not only Australian and global literature, but conversation, public engagement and the value of ideas in strengthening communities and growing audiences.
Our flagship festival, held annually in September, is one of the largest festivals of books, conversations and ideas in Australia. We also Inspire audiences across regional Queensland including Cairns, Bundaberg, Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Mackay, Longreach, Charleville, Chinchilla, with a major focus on Gladstone, Emerald and central Queensland
Bulimba Festival has been reinvented for 2015. This year it will run for a week commencing Monday 9 November until Sunday 15 November. During the course of the week we will showcase the many different aspects of life in Bulimba that draws people from all over the world to call this bend in the river “home”. There will be a series of events that make up the Bulimba Festival from movie nights, to pet parades, to art installations through to our headline event Lunch on the Lawn on Sunday 15 November in the Memorial Park.
Now in its sixth year, the Teneriffe Festival is known as one of Brisbane's premier community events,
celebrating the suburb’s history, energy, cultural diversity, commerce and beauty. Conceived after Brisbane’s inner city area of Teneriffe was officially named a suburb early in 2010, the one-day festival incorporates a rich program of street markets, live music, fashion, dining and historical displays. Several of Teneriffe’s main streets will be closed, offering our visitors a magnificent opportunity to discover the best that our suburb has to offer. The Teneriffe Festival attracts an audience of approximately 50,000 people across all of its events, making it one of Brisbane’s most significant festivals.
The Nundah Festival is an annual event held in Nundah Village. Brisbane Airport Corporation has been a proud sponsor of the event since the beginning. This year’s festival is the biggest to date with great sales, entertainment from local schools and street entertainment from the Cos Players.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) takes the finest care to the furthest corners of our land.Established in 1928 by the Reverend John Flynn, the RFDS has grown to become the largestand most comprehensive aeromedical organisation of its kind in the world, delivering 24-hour emergency aeromedical and primary health care services to all those who live, work and travel throughout Australia.Today, the RFDS conducts more than 280,000 patient consults across Australia every year – that’s one person every two minutes.In Queensland, the RFDS currently operates from nine bases at Brisbane, Bundaberg, Cairns,Charleville, Longreach, Mount Isa, Rockhampton, Roma and Townsville. These bases form astrategic network of aeromedical services as well as help deliver a broad range of health care programs including general practice, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, child and family health, social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, women’s health, oral health and health promotion activities.The RFDS is a not-for-profit organisation.
Careflight has flown nearly 42,000 critical rescue missions in its three decades of serving the community. Every day, CareFlight's community rescue helicopter medical crews take care of some of Queensland’s sickest and most critically-injured patients, airlifting them from small regional hospitals, or from the scene of an accident, into emergency hospital care.
Community support remains crucial to the ongoing resources needed to deliver the very best rapid response medical care. CareFlight Rescue is sincerely thankful to BAC for such generous and unwavering support of this vital service that gives peace of mind to Queenslanders in need. (96 words)
Crime Stoppers Queensland engages the community to anonymously report information through its 1800 hotline that makes a difference in stopping, solving and preventing crime.
The information received is passed to the police for investigation.We also work in local communities delivering programs that help to create safe and liveable communities.
We do this by engaging directly with the locals bringing attention to what the issues are and how the public can proactively report what they believe is suspicious or criminal behaviour.
This creates a powerful partnership solution.
BAC has supported the Brisbane Roar Football Team since 2006. Now BAC are supporting the Brisbane Roar Women’s Team to help them achieve their goal to become the Premiers again in the season.
BAC believes the Arts is a measure of a true international city and is proud of its involvement with the Queensland Theatre company since 2004.
