In 100 years of Brisbane Airport, there’s never been a year like it.
An incredible two million people are passing through our terminals every month.
In the past financial year, international travel is up 16.3 per cent and we’ve seen the launch of nine new flights. Brisbane is now connected to 34 international destinations, the highest number in our history.
Which is exactly why we are undertaking the biggest capital works program on record – updating our terminals, upgrading our security, improving technology – so your airport is ready for 2032 and beyond.
On any day, you’ll find up to 1,000 workers building the airport of tomorrow, today.
And, the best part is you don’t have to wait until 2032 to experience your new Brisbane Airport.

In the next few months, the works at the Qantas end of the Domestic Terminal will be completed, meaning travellers will experience a seamless journey through security where new next generation Computed Tomography (CT) equipment will allow laptops to stay in your bags.
The same upgrades will come online for all other airlines and passengers by the end of the year.

Just as excitingly, we are close to opening a brand new entrance at the Domestic Terminal which will take passengers who have carry-on baggage only directly from the Skywalk to departure gates.
From there they can pass through security and then proceed straight to their departure gate, providing an even smoother journey.

At International Terminal, work is progressing on relocating security and passport control to the top level so departing passengers can check-in and clear the border all on the same floor, before heading downstairs into an expanded duty free and retail area, and of course the iconic Village Green.
For arriving international passengers, Brisbane Airport has been at the forefront of efforts to modernise and digitise the border. Working closely with Qantas and Australian Border Force, we have successfully launched the Digital Arrival Card for incoming Australian passengers on selected flights – the first step of many as we advocate for a more seamless arrival into our country.
Behind all this work is the simple fact that Brisbane Airport is growing because Queensland is growing, and at a rapid pace.
We know when Brisbane Airport is busy, Queensland is thriving, which is good news for jobs, for the economy and for the people of this great state.
As we celebrate our centenary, we’re looking forward to the next 100 years – a century that will begin with a once-in-a-lifetime event sparking decades of growth, transformation and opportunity.
