Gone are the days of instant coffee, Brisbane Airport has solved our espresso problems with an impressive range of coffee spots serving brews we all desire.
Whether you're caffeinating to start your day or energising throughout, you'll be excited to know that a 'proper' pre-flight coffee awaits.
For the purpose of this article, we taste tested and shortlisted the best coffees on offer. We may not have slept that night, but all in all it was worth it to be able to confidently recommend the following:
Best coffee at the Domestic Terminal
The Lord Lamington Bar and Bistro
M'Lord is serving up a mean (and strong) cuppa in the Central Terminal satellite at The Lord Lamington. Why not indulge in one of their signature nutella and baklava lamingtons whilst you're at it? I know I certainly did.
Merlo Caffe
Brisbane locals will know and love the Merlo bean - I sure do. And you won't miss the Merlo Caffe in the Virgin food court as the bright blue sings give it away. While we all know the coffee is going to be good, the cabinet is also impressive, I spotted some GF and Vegan options available, plenty of grab and go options for those in a rush.
Trader & Co
Trader & Co is your go-to for a perfectly poured Campos coffee. Located before security, it is the perfect place to farewell a friend or loved one.
Krispy Kreme
Now serving barista coffee, Krispy Kreme is the perfect spot for an afternoon pick me up before a flight. Nothing goes better with a good coffee than a fresh doughnut.
Coffee Royal
Waiting to serve you at the top of the escalators from Qantas screening is Coffee Royal, a sauve addition to The Food Collective. Specialising in Merlo Coffee whether you are after a latte or an espresso martini.
Brisbane's local confectionery masters have landed at the Domestic Terminal near Gate 25. If you can tear yourself away from ordering the perfect hot chocie, the coffee here is just as good. Our recommendation is to order both, just to be safe!
Fonzie Abbott (Temporarily closed)
Fonzie Abbott is one of my favourite blends, regardless of being at the airport or not. It's my go to coffee spot before I fly for work and serves the smoothest soy latte I know.
The Market Place (Temporarily closed)
Need a coffee post flight for the business meeting or the family greetings? The Market Place is located just as you enter, or exit, the security area in the Virgin end of the Domestic Terminal. They are also now serving Lavazza Coffee, adding another option to the beans already on offer. If Fonzie or Merlo isn't your favourite, The Market Place will be waiting for you.
Best coffee at the International Terminal
Corretto Café & Bar
Corretto Café & Bar is not just the perfect spot for your 'goodbye' coffee, it's also got all the healthy choices you could ask for. If coffee's not your thing, Corretto offers turmeric lattes, matcha lattes and even blue lattes. They have all types of nut milks available and lots of delicious, healthy treats to enjoy with your coffee or superfood latte. One of my absolute favourites!
The Botanist Kitchen and Bar (Temporarily closed)
Another cafe to spend time with friends and family before you leave, the Botanist Kitchen and Bar offers more of the classics and a delicious brew (using beans from local Hendra coffee gurus Wolfee Coffee Roasters) to get you going before a big flight.
Hudsons Coffee (Temporarily closed)
If you have time to sit, this is your place. Hudsons Coffee offers you guessed it, coffee (delicious coffee), which you can purchase in their keep cups along with a few small treats. It also has a totally instagrammable wall and decor to take plenty of pre-vacay snaps - #doingitforthegram.
Windmill & Co (Temporarily closed)
One of my favourite places to take a moment from stress of preparing for a flight while caffeinating, before flying is, Windmill & Co. Sit down, enjoy your coffee and watch the planes arrive and depart in a relaxed vibe (plenty of food, pasta and pizza are also available to go with your coffee!)
The Coffee Club (Temporarily closed)
You'll be seeing double if you're in search for The Coffee Club, with one nestled in the arrivals section on level two of the airport, and the other sitting pretty after security. If you're flying out, the latter will have you feeling like you're already on vacation. Perched on the edge of the concourse, sip your brew with a view of palm trees, shops, and the tarmac.
