Gone are the days of instant coffee, Brisbane Airport has solved our espresso problems with an impressive range of coffee spots, slinging shots all day long.
Whether you're caffeinating to start your day or energising throughout, you'll be excited to know that a 'proper' pre-flight coffee awaits in both terminals.
For the purpose of this article, we taste-tested and shortlisted the best coffees on offer. We may not have slept that night, but it was worth it to be able to confidently recommend the following heart-starters.
Best coffee at the Domestic Terminal
It's easy to spot the sub-tropical fit-out of the Aviary in the Domestic Terminal near gate 23 after security with its indoor plants, light bright colours and pops of pastel. As the only restaurant in the terminal that offers table service, all you have to do is sit down and relax. Its all-day menu is complimented by coffee running all day long - the perfect pick me up no matter your time of flight.
Brisbane locals know and love the Merlo bean, so it's fitting the Merlo Caffe has a permanent home in the Virgin food court. While we all know the coffee is going to be good, the cabinet is also impressive with GF and Vegan options available and plenty of grab-and-go options for those in a rush.
Fonzie Abbott is one of Brisbane's favourite blends, regardless of being at the airport or not. It's my go-to coffee spot before I fly for work and serves the smoothest soy latte I know.
Trader & Co
Trader & Co is your go-to for a perfectly poured Campos coffee. Located before security, it is the perfect place to farewell a friend or loved one.
Now serving barista coffee, Krispy Kreme is the perfect spot for an afternoon pick me up before a flight. Nothing goes better with a coffee than a fresh doughnut.
Waiting to serve you at the top of the escalators from Qantas screening is Coffee Royal, a suave addition to The Food Collective. Specialising in Merlo Coffee whether you are after a latte or an espresso martini.
New Farm Confectionery
Brisbane's local confectionery masters, New Farm Confectionary, have landed at the Domestic Terminal near Gate 25. If you can tear yourself away from ordering the perfect hot chocolate, the coffee here is just as good. Our recommendation is to order both, just to be safe!
The Lord Lamington Bar and Bistro
M'Lord is serving up a mean (and strong) cuppa in the Central Terminal satellite at The Lord Lamington. Why not indulge in one of their signature nutella and baklava lamingtons whilst you're at it?
Best coffee at the International Terminal
Corretto Café & Bar
Corretto Café & Bar is not just the perfect spot for your 'goodbye' coffee, it's also got all the healthy choices you could ask for. If coffee's not your thing, Corretto offers turmeric lattes, matcha lattes and even blue lattes. They have all types of nut milks available and lots of delicious, healthy treats to enjoy with your coffee or superfood latte.
The Botanist Kitchen and Bar (Temporarily closed)
Another cafe to spend time with friends and family before you leave, the Botanist Kitchen and Bar offers more of the classics and a delicious brew (using beans from local Hendra coffee gurus Wolff Coffee Roasters) to get you going before a big flight.
If you have time to sit, this is your place. Hudsons Coffee offers you guessed it, coffee (delicious coffee), which you can purchase in their keep cups along with a few small treats. It also has a totally instagrammable wall and decor to take plenty of pre-vacay snaps - #doingitforthegram.
Windmill & Co
One of my favourite places to take a moment from stress of preparing for a flight while caffeinating is, Windmill & Co. Sit down, enjoy your coffee and watch the planes arrive and depart in a relaxed vibe (plenty of food, pasta and pizza are also available to go with your coffee!)
The Coffee Club
You'll be seeing double if you're in search for The Coffee Club, with one nestled in the arrivals section on level two of the airport, and the other sitting pretty after security. If you're flying out, the latter will have you feeling like you're already on vacation. Perched on the edge of the concourse, sip your brew with a view of palm trees, shops, and the tarmac.
With reduced passengers in our terminals and the ongoing impact of Covid-19 on trading, airport retailers are continuously adjusting their opening hours and staff levels. Please check individual listings here for the most up to date information on what’s open at each terminal and their trading hours.
