At Brisbane Airport, we are committed to ensuring our digital platforms are accessible, inclusive and easy to use for everyone.
This includes people with disability, older Australians, people who speak English as a second language, and anyone who may face barriers when accessing information online. Just as we work to create an accessible experience across our terminals, we are focused on making sure bne.com.au is welcoming and usable for all.
Our commitment to digital accessibility
We strive to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to make web content more accessible for people using assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboards or voice controls. We recognise that our website will continue to evolve, and we are committed to ongoing review and improvement to remove barriers wherever possible.
Scope of this statement
This accessibility statement applies to the Brisbane Airport website, bne.com.au. While we work to ensure all content on our website is accessible, some third‑party content or systems linked from our site (including airline websites or external booking platforms) may not fully meet the same accessibility standards.
Accessibility tools available
To support a wide range of access needs, Brisbane Airport uses the Recite Me accessibility and language toolbar on bne.com.au. The Recite Me toolbar allows website visitors to personalise their experience by:
- Listening to text read aloud
- Adjusting font size, spacing and colours
- Using reading aids and screen masks
- Translating content into multiple languages
- Accessing text-to-speech functionality
You can open the toolbar by selecting the Accessibility button at the top of the website on desktop and on the lower left of the screen on mobile devices.
Recite Me user guide
A step-by-step guide explaining the toolbar features and icons is available via the Recite Me user guide.
Other ways we support accessibility across our website
In addition to the Recite Me toolbar, we use a range of established accessibility practices across bne.com.au to support usability and inclusion. These include:
- Page titles: Web page titles clearly describe the content or purpose of each page.
- Text alternatives: Text substitutes are provided for non-text content where required.
- Colour contrast: Most text and text-based graphics are presented with a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
- Links: Wherever practical, links are written so they make sense out of context and provide clear information about their destination.
- Images: Informative images include descriptive ALT text.
- Markup and structure: Markup-based content uses valid, well-structured code with correctly nested elements and unique IDs.
- Simplified Chinese translation: Webpages containing important passenger information has also been translated on a dedicated Simplified Chinese version of the site.
- On our interactive terminal maps, accessible pathways is an option that can be turned on.
Known limitations
We are aware that some areas of the website may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Where this occurs, we aim to provide alternative ways to access information and prioritise improvements over time.

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of bne.com.au. If you have trouble accessing information or have suggestions on how we can improve, please let us know. You can contact us via email at feedback@bne.com.au.
