What's Changing
From Monday 6 December 2021, Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) will no longer issue ASICs. This process will be completed online by our new ASIC issuing body partner, Veritas.
The new Veritas platform provides an easier, faster application process that can be completed online anywhere, at any time, while providing improved security for personal data and an integrated security induction process.
This change means:
- The deadline for existing paper-based submissions is 12pm Friday 26 November 2021.
- From Monday 6 December 2021, all applications must be submitted online via the ID and Access Centre page on the BAC website.
- The cost of the ASIC application will increase from $220 to $234.00 ex GST.
The BAC ID and Access Centre will continue to:
- Provide in-person verification of identity documents for ASIC applications completed online.
- Print ASICs on behalf of Veritas on a BAC access card at no additional cost.
- Print Access Cards to support those companies and/or individuals who have obtained their ASICs through another issuing body or ASIC supply arrangement.
Anyone who does not get their ASIC printed by BAC ID and Access will require a separate access card at an additional cost of $25.00.
What will the new application process be?
Veritas has a simple three-step process:
- Complete and lodge the ASIC application online via the ID and Access Centre page on the Brisbane Airport Corporation website.
- Verify your original identity documents in-person at either the BAC ID and Access Centre, or at an authorised Australia Post Outlet – authorised outlets can be identified here.
- When your ASIC is approved, you'll be informed by email to collect your ASIC from the BAC ID and Access Centre.

ASIC and Access Card Costs
The cost of the ASIC application will increase from $220.00 to $234.00 (excluding GST). This price includes the printing of the ASIC on a Brisbane Airport access card. Whilst we appreciate a cost increase may be unexpected, BAC has not increased its ASIC price since 2014.
The increase accounts for the current costs of processing ASIC’s, including the increase in cost for an ASIC applicant background check conducted by the third-party Government body, Auscheck. We also consider that with the development and management of the integrated online application and security awareness training process, the service will be more efficient and convenient for ASIC applicants.
The ID document verification check is not included in this cost of the ASIC application. This service can be provided via BAC or via any authorised Australia Post outlet.
Do I have to obtain my ASIC through Veritas?
You do not have to get your ASIC through Veritas. If you choose to obtain your ASIC through another Issuing Body, you will need to obtain a BAC Access Card to go with your ASIC. The Access Card will expire with the expiry date of your ASIC. The cost of the Access Card is listed in the cost table below.
Do I have to go to BAC to get my ASIC application ID documents verified?
There are a number of options to get your ID documents verified, including attending the BAC ID and Access Centre, or an authorised Australia Post outlet. Some companies may be eligible to become an approved agent for Veritas, and your employee ID document verification checks may be conducted through your Agent approval arrangements. To establish if you are eligible to be an agent and what responsibilities you will have, please contact Veritas directly on 1300 VERITAS (1300 837 482) or @email.

If as a card holder you choose to not have your personal details and ASIC transferred to Veritas, BAC will cancel your ASIC in accordance with the regulations. If you opt out and you still require an ASIC, you will be required to apply through an alternate ASIC Issuing Body. Upon receiving your new ASIC from another Issuing Body, you will be required to obtain a BAC access card through BAC Access and ID Centre.
Do I have to complete the online security awareness training?
Yes, you will be required to complete the online security awareness training. It is mandatory before BAC will print your Veritas issued ASIC. The online security awareness training is provided in the link to your ASIC application process.

How do I apply for an ASIC in future?

How do we pay for the ASIC, can my business establish a company account with Veritas?
If you are a company that has 10 employees or more requiring ASICs, Veritas will be able to set up a dedicated account for you.
