Brisbane Festival is one of Australia’s major international arts festivals. Each September, it explodes across the city with a thrilling program of theatre, music, dance, circus, opera and major public events such as Sunsuper Riverfire. Attracting an audience of around one million people every year, Brisbane Festival aims to connect artists and audiences in ways that lift the spirit, disrupt the conventional and open our city to the world.
The partnership with Brisbane Airport Corporation, running now for over 7 years, allows both organisations the opportunity to enhance the cultural reputation of Brisbane.
The Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) is Brisbane’s leading and most dynamic community orchestra and brings together up to 200 musicians a year to play a variety of orchestral music. Created in 2000, the BPO was founded on principles of musical excellence and development, communal participation, and organisational professionalism.
The BPO has a strong history of maintaining various community partnerships including with the Queensland Music Festival, 4MBS Festival of Classics, the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Brisbane City Council, and The Brisbane Airport Corporation. These partnerships provide essential connections in artistic, educational, professional, and social programs and cater to the orchestra’s increased responsibility to culturally enhance localities and bring a diversity of people together to enrich Brisbane’s artistic scene.
Brisbane Airport Corporation has been a Major Partner of Brisbane Powerhouse since 2006. The partnership, now in its 12th year, is founded on our joint commitment to support and engage with our local community. Together we support artists and cultural activities that help make South East Queensland one of the world’s great places to live, work and visit.
A signature feature of our partnership is bringing the World Press Photo exhibition to Brisbane each year. The World Press Photo exhibition is known for inspiring global audiences and connecting with local audiences across 45 countries. Through our partnership, Brisbane Airport Corporation and Brisbane Powerhouse proudly ensure Brisbane is one of only 100 cities worldwide to host the exhibition.

Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, has established itself as a chamber orchestra of national significance with an outstanding track record of artistic achievement. A Company-in-Residence at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Camerata’s vision is to empower artists, inspire audiences, and enrich communities through music.
Performing without a conductor, the 18-member core ensemble and their guest artists proudly take full ownership of the music-making in the spirit of chamber music to form a thriving, refreshing and acclaimed voice. Under Artistic Director Brendan Joyce, the group undertakes an annual regional Queensland tour and a subscription concert season in both Brisbane and Toowoomba.
Camerata has a reputation for innovation and interesting and adventurous programming. Brisbane Airport Corporation’s support as a highly valued Program Partner enables Camerata’s ambitious vision to grow audiences 25 percent annually for its mainstage season performed at QPAC. With BAC support this bold plan has been achieved 2015, 2016, and 2017 ensuring more Queenslanders access high quality artistic experiences
Expressions Dance Company (EDC) is Queensland’s premiere dance theatre company. Since 1984 EDC has created more than 170 works by more than 75 renowned national and international choreographers. In addition to regularly performing at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and other Brisbane venues such as The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts and Brisbane Powerhouse, the company has enjoyed 22 international tours to 17 countries and 23 major Australian tours. Under the leadership of internationally acclaimed Artistic Director Natalie Weir the company’s work is achieving significant recognition through national awards and nominations, including 10 Helpmann Award and 10 Australian Dance Award nominations. Performance highlights include R&J, Carmen Sweet, When Time Stops and 7 Deadly Sins.

La Boite Theatre Company holds a unique place in the hearts and minds of artists and audiences in Queensland, with a strong focus for 90+ years on the development of new work and artists.
Brisbane Airport Corporation is proud to champion La Boite’s HWY program; the company’s annual festival that encourages artists to stretch boundaries and take risks, and invites audiences to participate in readings, showings, workshops, masterclasses and conversations.
The HWY platform has produced a number of brilliant new Australian works in recent years including Michelle Law’s smash hit Single Asian Female and La Boite’s 2018 world premiere production The Mathematics of Longing. Museum of Brisbane brings our city’s vibrant art, culture and history to life through our exhibitions, workshops, tours, talks and children’s activities.
Located in City Hall, the Museum is part of the living history of the city, examining how Brisbane and its people change over time and how our individual and collective stories reveal our character and create our identity. We are also the keeper of City Hall’s rich heritage, and visitors can experience a bird’s eye view of Brisbane from the top of the iconic Clock Tower on one of our popular tours, as well as learn the stories behind City Hall during an insider’s tour of the 90-year-old building.
Museum of Brisbane is an avid supporter of the city’s artists, designers and artisans. We are dedicated to transforming their artistic vision into a stunning reality through our exhibitions and artist-in-residence programs. Queensland Music Festival is a state-wide celebration of musical excellence with a vision to transform lives and communities through music.
QMF has redefined the traditional festival model to engage deeply with communities over time, igniting artistic potential and leaving a lasting legacy. Since 1999 the Festival has engaged more than a million people through projects in 91 locations across the State.
Brisbane Airport Corporation has been a major supporter of QMF’s Brisbane program for over 12 years, helping to foster a vibrant arts sector in the city through the support of large-scale signature events such as You’re The Voice, Keys to the City and the World’s Biggest Orchestra.
The QPAC International Series brings the world’s leading performing arts companies exclusively to Brisbane. Since 2009, QPAC has welcomed seven of the world’s best to its stages under the banner of the QPAC International Series: The Paris Opera Ballet, Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Hamburg State Opera, The Hamburg Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Preljocaj, The Royal Ballet and Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company (La Scala Ballet).
The QPAC International Series is a way to engage in a creative, cultural and intellectual exchange between communities from different countries and the various diasporas that make up contemporary Australia. Each year, in addition to stunning on stage productions, the International Series incorporates a program of events and activity curated in collaboration with our visiting company to expand understanding of the productions, the artists and country these companies call home. Delivered in live an digital environments, the program includes exhibitions, talks and discussions, masterclasses, live simulcast and community driven participation.

As an arts leader and great Australian orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra is renowned for its high quality, breathtaking performances of both classical and modern compositions that engage audiences of diverse musical tastes, interests and ages.
The largest performing arts company in Queensland and its only professional symphony orchestra, the Orchestra plays a vital role in Queensland’s cultural community, educating; mentoring aspiring performers; touring regional centres; broadcasting and performing with state, national and international ballet and opera companies. Each year, we attract the world’s best conductors and soloists as part of its acclaimed concert season, and presents unique blockbuster events.
Over the past decade, Queensland Symphony Orchestra has enjoyed a close partnership with Brisbane Airport Corporation and more recently their support of the Day in the Orchestra and Sing with the Orchestra community events. These activities form an integral part of our vision, which is to Educate, Inspire and Entertain.
Queensland Theatre is proud of its long-term relationship with Brisbane Airport Corporation. The beautiful courtyard, which is the main entry through to the Bille Brown Studio, is supported by Brisbane Airport. Through this sponsorship, the courtyard was enhanced with the installation of lush greenery and a stunning vertical garden wall, softening some of the more angular features and creating a warm, welcoming environment.
The courtyard and theatre will soon commence a renovation project. The completion date is August 2018. This is the most exciting transformation undertaken by Queensland Theatre. Soon we will be able to seat 360 patrons in the newly-designed Bille Brown Theatre, an increase of 30% on current capacity.
