BNE Auto Mall is the largest non-aviation project Brisbane Airport has undertaken to date.
Work on the 51.3-hectare site began in September 2017, with Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) investing more than $85 million in major earth and civil works.
BNE Auto Mall is located on a parcel of land between Moreton and Airport Drives next to the International Terminal, and once complete, will deliver an Australian airport first that will revolutionise the way people buy and experience vehicles.
In light of COVID-19, works on the project have been slightly delayed with the first stage targeting completion in 2023. This first stage alone will create more than 300 jobs for South East Queensland.
The heart of the precinct will be a world-class 2.3-kilometre performance track designed by Australian motor racing legend Mark Skaife via Skaife Racing and motorsport circuit designers iEDM.
The performance track will be delivered as part of stage one and will operate as an all-encompassing track to assist with driver training, vehicle engineering, safety testing and development as well as a unique, unparalleled test-driving environment for retailers and the public.
The performance track will also allow for specific motoring needs including:
- Skid Pan
- Manoeuvring course
- Dedicated slalom area
- 4WD demo course
- Kick plate
- Low-friction handling circuit
Once fully operational, BNE Auto Mall will be home to flagship automotive dealerships, experience centres, exhibition and conference facilities, hotels, event areas, commercial offices and associated amenities that will create a dynamic, driver-automotive precinct within Brisbane Airport.
